How we quote
Our Pricing Promise
The most common complaint about plumbers is a price that appears out of nowhere. This is how we quote instead, on every job from a dripping faucet to a sewer lateral.
You see the problem, you get the options and the price in writing before any work starts, and nothing is added without your written OK. When something can wait, we tell you.
What you can expect
Berkeley Plumbing Services connects callers with independent, licensed plumbing contractors serving Berkeley. This is the standard every job we connect should meet. If it is not met, call us and tell us.
- The visit fee up front. We tell you on the phone what the visit costs and whether it is credited toward the repair.
- The problem shown to you. Photos, camera footage, or the failed part. You should never have to take our word for it.
- Options in writing. When there is a repair option and a replacement option, you get both, with prices, and the trade-offs explained.
- A written estimate before work starts. Scope, materials, permit, cleanup and total.
- No surprise add-ons. If we find something else, we stop, show you, and put any change in writing for your signature before doing it.
- Permits handled. When a job needs a City of Berkeley permit, we pull it and schedule the inspection.
- An itemized invoice. Parts and labor listed, with photos. Landlords and sellers need these records.
- Honest timing. If something can safely wait, we say so.
What California law already requires
Some of this is not generosity; it is the law. The Contractors State License Board says home improvement contracts over $500 must be in writing, the down payment cannot exceed $1,000 or 10 percent of the price, whichever is less, and changes to price or scope must be signed change orders. We think every plumber should follow these rules on every job. Read our hiring guide for the full checklist.
How to check our numbers
Compare any quote against the reported ranges in our Berkeley plumbing cost guide, and ask for a second opinion on any large job. We would rather you hire us with confidence than feel rushed.
